Re: Duck Pool

Ive decided to get back into doing Letterboxing again and over Easter I will be heading to Duck Pool with my partner. To maintain her interest is there any areas nearby that would contain a few boxes? I will be taking the route from The scout hut at sheepstor - Eylesbarrow Tin Mine - Plymford - Duc...

As a Forum "owner" myself this Forum is no different, not many folk post more view. The way to get a lot of posts it to post something controversial, or totally off the wall. :D :D

There could be another reason behind the dwindling number of pub boxes... pubs are getting taken over by breweries and/or landlords, not all these breweries or landlords realise what letterboxing is about, so the stuff gets chucked out. In the event of multiple stamps appearing in venues it is a ca...

Well, it wasn't actually on the moor but in the Railway Inn but I cannot publish it on here due to it's obscene nature... RIP Dave Hagar it still amuses me when I look at it. But for one that was on the moor would have to be Dave Hagars jigsaw Dave Hagars where funny as was he. Had the pleasure in ...

But there are lots of WOM owners that will let "you join" their "club" there are some that are very un-friendly but hay there are Zillions of boxes out there. Go enjoy. :D

Re: Is Letterboxing in Decline

Following on from my original question " Is Letterboxing in Decline" . I would be interested to know what happend on 20th November 2007 to make 67 users of this site go on line at 9.40pm. Have looked back at postings for this date but can see no reason for this large number of viewings. Most nights...

Yes it used to be quite a common practice - One boxer always took a few out each trip, left them in boxes and asked the next person to visit to stamp up and post it back tohim. Bet ha has a lovely collection of personal stamps. Yes remember it well, not seen often these days, well not by us anyway....

.<snip> I believe there is going to be a massive shake up with letterboxes as I agree there is far too much junk being put out on the moor. I also think unmaintained boxes should be removed permanantly, and anyine siting a box should enter into a contract with the powers that be that they should vi...

Okay, you are distracting from my main point now. To clarify: I'm stating that if the 100 club didn't accept gift shop stamps towards your total collection people might think twice before siting something that takes no time/effort/thought to put on the moor. I can guarantee in years to come the sta...

I like the idea of a blog too, and agree this is something quite different to a forum. It would be fantastic to be able to read the diary of an active letterboxer - this was the idea behind setting up the 'ramblings' part to the website (http://www.dartmoorletterboxing.org/blog/index.php). If anyon...

Din not say I did not like it I said I don't understand why one would need a blog.

But a blog and a forum are completely different. A forum is a public meeting place for general discussion. A blog ('web log') is a private space for articles. Although I agree that this forum is under-used, it seems to have lots of readers. Check out the view numbers on some of these posts. A blog ...

You don't need to find 100 to obtain the clue list, & there is only one meet (March) these days. Good luck with your 100. Ummmmmm only one meet?????? Where did you get that from Gemma ??? There are always 2 meets on clock change days - one in the Spring (March) one in the Autumn (October). I think ...
