Hi All
Did the Devon Air Ambulance Walk today. Great day out on the Moors.
If planning to do this walk, then take great care. It probably isn't wise if your children are very young as not really a "family" walk - lots of climbing and crossing rivers. In fact, one boxer wrote in the visitor's book that you need to be a "mountain goat" to do the walk. If the family are young (or very elderly in tow), then you could always try Boxes 1-5 (plus Bonus 3) and then come the other way another time, and do Boxes 12 (plus bonus) and 11. That way, you'll pick up some extra stamps along the way but will avoid the need to climb or jump rivers.
I found all the boxes except Box 10 - had to give up searching for this one as was hopeless. I expect it was there somewhere.
I found 27 boxes all told. 3 boxes were your's Jones Family. Happy 20th Wedding Anniversary - lovely stamps. Did Dizzy make them?

| I also did the Devon Air Ambulance walk, but on Saturday. I couldnt find number 1 (I think that the GPS was really out) and also number 10. I met the Jones Family out there, they were out doing the same walk and they seem very nice. They were placing there new letterboxes as we walked by. I agree with you Tina about the walk. I found it very hard the terrain was very difficult I guess it builds up the muscles anyway!!! Good walk though and the stamps were really nice worth the effort but glad to get back to the car and have a cup of coffee. |

Hi Slow & Steady
Box 1 was way out on the bearings. However, when looking for it, I found another 3 boxes, so was worth looking. It was quite a bit further on.
I only found the Jones' family Wedding Anniversary boxes, because I struggled to find the Air Ambulance box, so again, was worth the hunt.
I found the area around Box 10 quite dangerous, so gave up on that one, after i'd been hunting for about 20/30 minutes.
I too, enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee when I returned to the car after the walk. The scenery was stunning in places though, so although terribly hard work at times (or am I just so unfit???), I still enjoyed it.

Hi Tina,
Yes Dizzy did make our stamps.
We have just returned from a 9 day holiday on the Moors. As previously mentioned we bumped into Slow and Steady and partner, lovely people, while on the Devon Air ambulance Walk. We managed to find all the stamps box one was a challange and our Ten year old mountain goat, Kirsty, found box Ten just down the bank.
We all enjoyed the walk, we checked our 4 stamps on Combeshead Tor at the same time all OK. and also sited our two new boxes.
Not yet registered but if any one wants the clues just send a PM. |

If that's the standard of Dizzy's work, then i'm really pleased that i've asked him to make some stamps up for me. Can't wait to see them now. Hoping to get some of them by the next weekend and will then start putting them out over the next couple of weeks at Pew Tor, Cuckoo Rock, Crazywell Pool, Leeden Tor, Corndon Tor and just near Vixen Tor. _________________ next target 2000 - hopefully some time in 2010

Blimey, all this praise!
Tina, your stamps will come out just fine, I'm a perfectionist in whatever I do so I'd rather give you a refund than send you poor quality stamps. I will be making your stamps Tuesday and then after curing them overnight posting them on Wednesday.
As mention, I only do this as a hobby so I'm not into it for a mass profit, I love the enjoyment of creating the stamps and seeing the final product.
Thanks for your lovely comments.

The Devon Air Ambulance walk is only out for 6 months at a time as is any charity walk before being moved to another area with different stamps - I hope this clears up any confusion _________________ Nik 262 to go
