Re: 2022 and the forum is back!

Really pleased to have the email saying the site was back up, so thanking those that have no doubt spent hours making this happen. Even more pleasing that most of the history has been retained and good to see the old posts. Hopefully traffic on the forum will return close to its heyday. A valuable r...

So far so good - thanks to all those that have kept this site going over the last few and look forward to future improvemen...

Like the idea of this. Possibly may need to alter the rules a little to accommodate all, like over a week to allow us poor soles who have to work.
great idea though, can just imagine all active letterboxes trying to get up there to site a box or 2. As long as eeryone didnt choose the same area!

Always trying to look for the good side in people - It is evident that there has been a fair amount of gorse buring in this area recently, is it possible that some kind soul has moved them out of the 'burn zone' before burning as i found a couple of melted 'pill pots' amongst the burnt gorse when i ...

Oldest Box found with the fewest recorded finds?

Whilst out doing this winters Brentor Church Charity Walk came across a Abbots Way - Wheatear stamp. According to the book this was sited in April 1997 and only had 4 stamp finds in it -May 1997, 2 in Aug 14 & 1 Sept 14. Since it has the first 1997 stamp in it assume this is still the first book...

Only up there last fri (27.02) but only got as far as heckwood tor so may not have got to them. A bonus for a letterboxer that finds this sight but lets hope they go back to their rightful places. Is this a case of a local 'clearing' his moor!? Wonder if the 5 missing stamps that i was looking for a...

Abbots Way Wheatear box found - North Hessary Tor

I was in the North Hessary Tor area on Saturday and came across the above box. According to the book this box was sited in April 1997 and looks like there has been only 4 finders since siting!! Book contained dated finds of May 1997 and three finds in 2014? Assuming this is the original book with th...

Could be a personal stamp but was very well wrapped and sealed with cellotape so potentially never got used if it was a personal stamp. Cannt remember who last stamped the book or took name either and didnt think of this at the time - doh!!! I will be revisiting this site some time soon to complete ...
