Excel for me but i too scan an image of the stamp next to the location and catalogue number/clues. Takes a bit of time after each trip but makes organising much easier! I met one bloke on the moors who carried his excel database on his pda so he could check if he'd already found a stamp before! Very...

Hi all :) I got both the books by Anne Swinscoe; Dartmoor letterboxing more Dartmoor letterboxing and the add on by John Hayward; 101 Dartmoor letterboxes (all from the wh smiths in Torquay!) More on the historical side but fascinating reads and a really good spread of stamps inside (but not where t...

Dizzy is, as usual, absolutely right :D Most of the Tors around that area are good for access from car parks. The only downside is that many of the boxes do get damaged fairly regularly. My mum is in a wheel chair and we've done Saddle Tor, Haytor and Hound Tor ( although that one was a long push up...

We are in a similar boat it would appear; not being able to simply pop onto the moors but rather having to fit a bit of boxing into the holiday seasons! The Dixon Clan always manage to spend a couple of days per holiday out on Dartmoor though so it's not too bad. Enjoy the moor and if you ever see a...

As ponted out above the term Grockle has been used for quite a while to describe someone who is not from Devon's glorious shores. It was after having a discussion with someone in Torquay about letterboxing I first heard the term and I loved it from the off! The order was set up as a tongue in cheek ...

Hi, and good luck with the hunt for the 100. We started simply by pulling in at one of the parkling areas near a tor (Didn't even know which one it was at the time!) and wandering around for a bit. Soon got the hang of the kind of places letterboxes were secreted away. After a couple of days like th...

Our box was fine - thank you for asking after it :D I think it was far enough from the tor to not be spotted ( I'm hoping that the same can be said for Dizzy's boxes too although I forgot to ask him for the clues so I can't be sure as I don't know where they are! Could have kicked myself for forgett...

Hi and welcome :D Bonehill rocks used to be a great spot for boxes but appears to have recently been cleared almost completely of boxes :( Saddle Tor, Haytor and Hounds Tor are all a good bet and any of the smaller Tors in that region are worth a wander if you happen past a car park. :D Happy Huntin...
