Yes they do count just collect the stamp, and make a note of grid ref etc.. I go out in all weathers, but when it is wet I do keep the boxes dry, sometimes I take the stamp and do not stamp the boxes log, just to keep log from getting wet. But beware Dartmoors weather changes very quickly. Hi! When...

Hi, Jock 1967. Welcome to the wonderfully addictive world of letterboxing. We have been doing it for just over 2 years, having started without really knowing what it was all about. We managed to get the 100 Club clue book before starting, so had something of a head start. Hopefully, most of your que...

Hi! Welcome to the totally addictive hobby of letterboxing! We have been doing it for just over a year and are approaching 400 boxes found. If you look back at other forums here you will see that there is a wide variation of thought as to which to count towards the total; we count all those we have ...

Before I noted that someone had said Tina needed the case to carry all the gear, I was going to suggest that she obviously pulls a trailer behind her!! Must admit, it makes what we take look paltry and insignificant - and makes me think we need to re-evaluate what we should take in the way of emerge...

Sssshhh! Careful you don't wake the sleeping giant! This site has it's moments - but sometimes goes through a quiet spell. We've done Belstone & Scarey Tor quite a bit - probably our favourite areas. Likely to do somewhere on the south moor this Sunday (although the forecast doesn't look too goo...

Hi, tomp.

Many thanks for the reply.

Think it was just me being particularly dense (or the onset of Alzheimer's!!??). Or possibly too much (or not enough) alcohol!!

Hi! I'm pretty sure I posted a reply previously in this forum - seems to have disappeared! Hope I didn't say anything to upset anyone or be too contentious - if so, it wouldn't have been meant and I offer my apologies. I could be wrong, of course!! :? Hi, Hunting Owles Welcome to the site and the highly addictive hobby of letterboxing. Although Saddle Tor has been suggested, there have been problems with letterboxes there being destroyed/taken/left in the open. You may have seen on this forum comments about 'Letterbox Thieves' - no-one knows who ...

Hi! We were some of the mad ones! Stayed at The Forest Inn, Hexworthy, Saturday and Sunday nights - had three days on the moors. Checked our box (and finally took some bearings) and one of James and Jenny's on Saturday - then realised we needed better waterproof clothing; spent a small fortune at Ko...

Hi, all. There are obviously different ways that people treat their letterboxing approach; when out boxing, we don't like to approach people who are stamping from a box - we like the challenge of finding the box ourselves (using Grid Refs and compass - don't have a GPS, although it was invaluable fo...
