Areas/Tors whre old boxes are still present

Anybody know of Tors/Areas on the moor (of course more deeper in the moor) where it is likely to find old letterboxes dating prior to year 2000?
Areas where I do not have to search for boxes amongst 100000 clitterpieces.

Went to Sheeps Tor 3 weeks ago and spent a lot of time there (I went by bike so to give me a lot of time to serach for boxes).

Result: less than 10 boxes and no old boxes at all that I found. Very disappointing.

I use two and have my GPS and compass in my coat pocket.
I bought them very cheaply at the Range are of Plymouth (I think Plympton or was it Plymstock).... Good quality.

Especially usefull for checking under rocks for boxes and I do not want a snake to bite me.

What are the restrictions on camping on the moor.

I would like to do it with my son, but not sure what laws or regulations there are for camping on the moor.

Please do let me know ....

Best ist Colin Masters Program and buying the database clues from Colin Richards. Then use a GPS Montana or Oregon and you can load the clue descriptions and coordinates directly to these devices. If using the Montana, also buy the 1:25.... Dartmoor electronic Map which you can use. Then you have a ...

I think the best bet is following: Free: Colin Masters Letterboxing Program www.Colin-masters.net. This is the best program I believe out there for letterboxing and excellent when working with GPS Garmin devices. Then buy the letterboxing database from Colin Richards (updates also from him, but you ...

The best combination I have found so far and results in paperless letterboxing (no clues, no map etc.) is Garmin Montana adding a OS 1:25 Map so you have the map on your GPS (screen size is big enough) and using the Geocache Function of the Montana to load the letterbox clue description with Colin M...

Started 1984 - We are based in Austria

We started letterboxing in 1984 having met Ruth and Rover the dog, as they were searching for stamps. We are based in Austria and over the last 30 years have done letterboxing, reachin 2.000 stamps. 4 generations of letterboxes (parents, kids and ourselves from Austria and greatgrandparent from the ...

Old Letterboxes before year 2.000 - Trading Partner

Hi,

I am looking for people that would trade old clues for Letterboxes on the moor.
I have a list of old boxes I found before the year 2.000.
Just yesterday found two boxes dates 1991 and 1995.

Finding 6 digit grid ref Letterboxes - How to calculate

Just wanted to ask how to go about finding 6 digit grid ref Letterboxes and how to calculate. I learned once that in Memory Map I can draw lines from given points that are mentioned in the clue and see how all three lines cross at a specific point where the box is. Also read that I have to add or su...

Know someone with around 80.000. We have 1.600 since 1985, not bad considering we are from Austria and have been letterboxing since 1985, flying there and back. We may not have the most boxes, but perhaps the oldest tradition ... It is the 4th generation (my kids and nephews) that are letterboxing a...

The thing to go for is http://www.colin-masters.net/dartmoor/letterboxing/index.html It is free, it can load Mike Holidays updates, it is far far better then Memory Map and Anquit (however you spell that), and is specificically customized for Letterboxing ... best used together with Garmin Oregon, c...
