Is anyone on the Moor this weekend? We'll be camping at Princetown as usual, I'm the short, wide, middle-aged woman with long white hair and he is the tall, bald, athletic one. Come and say Hi if you see us.

We're planning on mushrooming on at least one day so if you want to come with us we know where to find ceps and chanterelles.

Hi Pat!

We're hoping to - we haven't been down to Dartmoor since the last Bank Holiday.

We're considering camping at either:
a) Runnage Farm (Postbridge)
b) Plume of Feathers
c) Higher Longford (just past Vixen Tor)

What's your experience of the Plume and Feathers? We've never stayed there as we thought it may be a bit noisy next to the pub car park!

Weather looks good - have a great weekend if we don't see you!

Best wishes

James & Jenny :)

Hi James & Jenny,
We always camp at Langstone Manor.
You can walk onto the Moors from the site. A few minutes and you are on Pew Tor.
We are hoping to make a flying visit on Sunday just for the day. (weather permitting)

The Monkey's are going to be on Pew Tor and Feather Tor this weekend to get those last elusive 10 boxes to make the 100 - come over and say hello if you see us - baldy chap with a cap on, vague looking woman with wet feet and two dogs - little jack russell and strategically shaved sheepdog - that looks like Sprockett from Fraggle Rock!!! He will do anything for a biscuit (the dog not the baldy chap!!!)

Thanks MarkP!

It looks as though we're going to Langstone Manor on for the Saturday night, and will be boxing around Cox Tor/Feather Tor on Saturday pm and Sunday am. So if anyone's around come and say hello! :)

Weather forecast not looking so good now though...

We usually camp up at the Plume in Princetown. It can be a bit noisy although it nearly always quiets down by midnight but it's extremely convenient, and because we usually arrive quite late on Friday it's very practical. There is also a good choice of real beer and good food locally.

We had a couple of less than good experiences down at Langstone Manner. They closed the bar early on several occasions because they felt like it, they didn't serve food one night without notice because they felt like it, the food when they bothered was poor quality and served in very small portions to the extent that we pointed out to them that we expected a meal served on a real plate, not a tea plate and that for the price they were asking we could get a superb meal elsewhere, the bar was extremely cold, they don't stock real ale only fizzy stuff, and the attitude was generally unhelpful and offhand. Once we could forgive on the grounds that they might have been having an off day, but twice was not acceptable and we haven't been back since.

Thanks for the feedback on Langstone, Pat!
