Hi All.

Just wanted to say hello.

Putty from Paignton here.

After a chance chat with Dizzy, I was hooked on stamp carving, and finally had my first letter boxing expedition with my wife to Saddle Tor on Sunday ( 30th Sept).

Other commitments on that day meant we only had 1 hour searching. As Dizzy pointed out you cant miss them, and we were thrilled to find the first one, shortly followed by another 15 or so. Unfortinatly only 4 contained stamps and a few of the others were soaking wet, or distroyed.

Anyhoo, only 96 to go and we are looking forward to our next outing.

Hope to see you out and about soon. Will generate a meeting stamp when supplies arrive form the U S of A, and looking foreward to putting our own box/es out when we reach the magic 100.

A big THANKS to Dizzy for all his help.

Cheers

Putty

Hi there Putty,

Welcome to our gang. As Nik says we are friendly here (I was forced into saying that). Your first 100 will be unearthed in no time at all. Good luck.

Hiya Putty! Good to hear you got out there and if you need anything else please let me know.
Sorry to hear you only found four boxes in that area but there are many more if you look carefully. Saddle Tor is only one of the areas I mentioned to you in order to get started with this very adictive bug. It's far from the best of areas to go due to the damaged and missing boxes but it gave you a feel for what to look for.
Next time you could always go back to the same area to find many more around that tor but there are many other places as I've mentioned that you can visit. Pew Tor is a very popular area with stacks of boxes to find but you will also find lot's of empty sites and damaged containers there, at least this will get you over that 100 stamps very quickly, then you can purchase the letterboxing catalogue with thousands of clues to better areas.

Welcome to the site and glad you caught the bug, you have it for life!

Cheers
Dizzy

Well done on finding your first 4 boxes - not bad for an hours work! You will soon reach the magic 100 - especially if you browse through some of the various threads on this website - there's loads of good information - and many suggestions of good places to look. :D

Thanks for the welcomes and advice guys.

We are planning on another trip on Sunday, although I have to work on that afternoon I am sure we can squeeze a few hours in.

Looking forward to meeting some of you soon.
