Hi all - Trying to work out if I can get over for the Autumn Meet and wanted to find out if there is anything going on Saturday - such as charity walks?

Thanks.

Hi Teamking, you will normally find a number of charity walks you can pick up at the meet on the 28th October. This will give you some lovely walks in aid of different chaities for around the £3.50 mark for a set of clues.
Hope to see you there,

Dizzy

Do people tend to do any walks on that Sunday? or do you just purchase them and do them another day?

I like to do my walks on the Sunday - weather permitting - cos I try to get otut there before it becomes so well trampled and obvious and before the letterbox thief has a chance to get to it

Okay, so a normal routine would be to get to the meet, get the walks sheet, then do a walk(s), then back to meet for exchanges and whatnot. . .is that correct?

Sorry for so many questions. Just trying to plan my time and what I need to bring.

Thanks!

Do everyting at the meet first and then enjoy the rest of the day out on the open moors. I'm sure you will have a great day out.

Exchange???? :o The idea is to make money for charity and not swap them at the meet - this is why they are "charity walks"
I, more often than not, will buy a walk and invariably not do it - but the charity has gained from my "donation"

When you get there - try to decide which walks are possible on the day and do those and do the opther walks the next day

But bear in mind the statistics say it will rain on the day of the meet

I wasn't referring to exchanging walks or clues. I meant stamping into each other logbooks. We call them exchanges in the states.

Remember there will be a lot of people there who have very hard soles on their feet and a dogs paws are somewhat unprotected - though people do bring their dogs to the meet - most tend to end up sitting in the owners cars for a periods of time

Personally dogs make a good stew... I mean are most welcome as I have problem with them whatsoever - but keep it in mind there are people there who dont like dogs... - it's your call

Not sure where I plan to be on the Saturaday but will be in Princetown the night before the meet and on the day of the meet - it will depend on which charity walk(s) grab my attention

moorland wizard

2007-10-21 20:46:16

so what stalls are the at the meet? or are they just stalls with walks on? on bacon butties

Nik - KOTM

OK important things as you enter the hall on your left are the loos
next to them is the galley area where the food is made to order
Good quality and not expensive.
The first stand alone stall you will meet as you look into the hall will be cards ink pads etc
To the right will be the first of the "charity walks" or something like that
The traders are usually down the right hand side - follow this down to the back of the hall and get your updates register stamps and become members of the 100 club etc... follow this around to the opposite corner to the entrance and you will find the Meet stamp next to that is normally Crawfords Crackers (if he is there) behind that is a seated area and Kountry Kit and next to that is more seating and the bar and ME! :P
All the tables down the centre of the hall will be charity walks

Does that answer your question
OH btw if it is raining (which it usually does) - it gets very crowded

moorland wizard

2007-10-22 12:35:09

it does, im just after some new gatters but will get them by mail order.
