Hello Mad Box Hunters welcome to the forum. I am sure you will be able to give us some usful information with your experiance and I have no doubt that you will find the forum helpful as the members are a friendly ( and a little crazy) group.
Wow! 10,000 boxes,
Mind you we were talking to a chap during a previous visit to Dartmoor who said he had over 25,000, by the way he also told us he had never used a GPS. We were talking on a very misty day when we could only see about 100 feet and we were resorting to our gps yet he was still using a compass, with his incredible knowledge of the area, and to our amazment, he estimated where the landmarks were and still found the boxes.
So who knows what the record is, has anyone heard of someone with more than this?

Hiya Mad Box hunters... welcome to the site...
As for the most boxes I have heard various stories about who has what and who has this many and that many

Though I suspect the person who has that good knowledge of the moor and has 25K worth of stamps is CK (Legend of Dartmoor) But I reckon he probably has more than that!

I bumped into "The Auditor" and her dog one time completing a charity walk, and she had collected over 30,000 boxes.

I've also met people who have collected thousands of boxes, mind you some of them did say that many were pub, ice cream vans and other establishments though. Those who have found many boxes through just searching the moors are very dedicated people and some of whom I have met over the years on the moors.
My two and a half thousand is nothing compaired to these people, I still end up walking to far past the bearing and then have to hike back a little bit to get back on track, did that today! :(

My personal record for stamps in one day was 91 that was on the moor...
125 at the meet and 230 off moor (someones collection of stamps
However having said that those meet stamps and off moor stamps DO NOT count towards my collection

That's the general idea...

Just a word of warning though.... if you have a brand new RED ink pad - DON'T LET ANYONE USE IT!!!!!! Otherwise it will look black and horrible

I'm safe we have a blue ink pad ready for the meet, although we did see a neon multi coloured one.

Guess you had a bad experience with a red ink pad

I got some fulchet from the shop in town next to the brunel and iron mongers, it was just one for my mum as she keeps moaning for me to make the and put my degree to some use...(I am in stamp's)

A blue ink pad really isn't the best as it takes ages for the blue ink to dry.
Though I would recommend getting a very large BLACK one from the guy you will meet as you walk into the hall - he sells cards ink pads almost any coloured stamp pads and dont forget to get his meet stamp
However the official stamp is just about as far away from the door as you can get in the opposite corner (to the left of the people queueing to get their membership of the 100 letterbox club and both queues tend to get mixed.
Colour in the stamp world is the spice of life
Although I detest those emulsion based ink pads as they clog up the stamps

Best one I ever got was a stamp that could only be used with a white ink pad - so out of my box produced a black card!!!! It was meant to be a joke but I managed to turn the joke around

Nik, I agree about the emulsion ones. I carry around and old toothbrush and use it to clean out all the gunk!

While I'm on Nik, I received my 100 club membership card back in the mid 80's. I've just found it in a drawer but can't make out the number on the card. I may be on some sort of database, but back then computers where the size of double decker busses!

Godfrey Swinscow is no longer providing the badges or membership cards, but he may well have passed the data over to Stephanie and Roger Paul, who may be able to advise you of your registration number. I'll pm you with their telephone number.
