Came across your web site in hopeful search for help!!
I am bringing a couple of mates down to the moor on the weekend to introduce them to Letterboxing and have just realised that I have lost my clue book and the earliest I have is sring 2006!! My first question is do you think this will be up to date enough to get some boxes or if not do you know of any temporary series that are up there at the moment that we could get some clues for?? Cheers in advance. :?:

As a lot of the stamps are out for five years, you'll probably find quite a few still relevant from the 2006 book. If not, head around Pew and Feather Tors as you will find loads (if the Letterbox Thief has not stolen them all).

Good luck

Not sure, probably somewhere on North moor. Roe Tor and around that area.

Yes fine with maps.
Many thanks for your help. Anything around Row Tor, Yes Tor, High Willhays will be great. Have not been up around there for a few years and am also wondering if the ring road is still accessable with plenty of parking??

From a personal point of view - I find it can be more fun to put the clue book away and wander around looking for boxes in the old fashioned style.
If there is more than a few it can be "swept" by searching in line abreast. Although searching clitter can be tedious!

Hi Princetown Flyer,

Row Tor was the first tor I ever boxed on - without a clue book initially and then with a borrowed book from 2005 - found lots and lots - just with general scouting about - and that was in April of this year. Many from the 2005 book were still there. Have been back there plenty of times since - and always seem to find extra ones to the ones already found - so I don't think you will have any worries. Haven't yet ventured to Yes Tor and High Willhays - so can't help you there. If in that general area though - Belstone Tor has a lot of boxes too - so definitely worth a walk over to.

Happy Hunting, :D

Was on Row Tor fairly recently just having a scavenge; an awful lot of rocks to check with not much result! Suspect with a few people you may get better results. Yes Tor/High Willhays likewise have a few not too difficult, but given the area to cover I think you really need to wait until you get a cluebook! I quickly checked West Mill Tor as well - I didn't think it looked too fruitful, but it was raining by then which is normally enough to dampen my enthusiasm!

Sadly the next clue book is out for the Spring meet - there will be the old clue books on sale plus a copy of all the updates at the next meet... at least that is what I think it is going to be...
This is because the hierarchy is going through a transistion at this time
