What is WW?

Hello,

New to the forum; not so new to letterboxing though! However, an easy question I assume, but can anyone tell me what the '(WW)' in some clue names refer to? For example, from the 2007 Autumn supplement the first page shows the clue name:

"A Dartmoor lane (WW) - Black lane south"

Other clue names with WW include "Cowflop bottom" and "Cut hill stream".

I have also noticed, in the main catalogue, a "P&V" in the "Cobbledicks barrel- Cosdon" clue name, and an "N.D." in the "Combestone codger" clue.

Anyone any idea what these are, mean or refer to?

Thanks.

John.

Hello John,
Welcome to the forum, the clues with WW after them are the boxes placed out by the 'Woodstock Wanderers'
Sorry but I can not help with you other questions

Okay, but why? Why include whoever is putting the letterbox out?

It is obviously the choice of the people placing out the boxes, they can name it as they wish and by adding (WW) to the name they identify to everyone that the box belongs to them. I do not know why they want to do this though, but they may have a very good reason. If you want to ask them find one of their boxes and take the contact number from it and get in touch.

P&V is a box placed by Pat and Viv Clatworthy and ND is a box placed by the Norfolk Dumplings.
Boxes with initials on like these are normally WOM boxes which have been out for a while which the owners have now released the details for.
