:) I managed to get out on the moor today first time this year , I went to Saddle tor on my own as my helpers are at school or should I say troop.
I was shocked at the amount of distroyed boxes I came across , I removed three as all that was left was box and rotted paper, was this the right thing to do :?: any ideas Im still new to lettrboxing

Yes I think I would have done this - once the boxes get to this state and the stamp has long gone - there is little point in leaving them. Obviously the owner hasn't checked on them lately - and they have become little more than litter.

I absolutely agree with that course of action. There are far too many boxes out there desperately in need of attention. If you can identify the owner all the better - if you cant salvage anything - BIN IT!

Sadly as you say there are a lot of people who think these things look after themselves - I used to visit mine on a monthly basis or if someone I knew was going that way to go and have a look in on it...

Good move Dad's Army, exactly what everyone should do, remove the litter boxes from the moors. sadly there are those that decide to take up letterboxing for the first time and within a trip or two site a box, then the interest is lost and the box either forgotten about or can't be bothered with.
