How do you know if you have definitely found the stamp in the book and not just stumbled on an unregistered one that is very near the one you were looking for? Some are really obvious, like Belstone badger was actually a badger(shock horror! lol) and some are clearly marked with either name or number. But I have found a lot that I really don't know what they are. How relevant is being able to identify the stamps to including them in your total count?

The best way I found to get the right stamp for the book is to make sure the clues in the book match the position where you found it - but I do have to agree that there are far too many litterboxes - which sadly does not do any faours for the letterboxing community as a whole.
If you do see someone siting a box and it looks like they dont really know what they are doing have a friendly chat to them and explain the error of their ways - but be prepared to make an idiot of yourself as it might bea genuine boxer putting them out
