Hi, We're travelling to Devon for our annual holiday with our two boys (4yrs & 8mnths.) Paul & I caught the letterboxing bug about 7yrs ago whilst on holiday near Tavistock and would really like to show our 4yr old what it's all about. We're cachers but want to show our son letterboxing too.
So this is a plea for any information as to how we can get hold of any clues/ walks quickly, before saturday 10th. We'll happily pay via paypal for any emails or put a chq in the post.
Thanking You all in advance
Sian

Hello Foreign People...We have a 4 year old grandson (yes I know we don't look old enough) and are doing the same as you in trying to get him interested in life beyind the TV and Playstation. Our experience has been that general letterboxing can be a bit hard work to keep thier interest but... We had a fabulous day on Saddle Tor which is covered (especially the North Side) by very easy to find boxes placed by children, the stamps are not quite as nice as you will find elsewhere but our experience was that Grandboy was not really interested in the stamps just chasing around finding boxes. The other area to consider is Charity walks where there are a number of boxes laid out fairly close together but the walking can be tough. I assume you have a backpack type arrangement for the 8 month old as Dartmoor is not pushchair friendly! You would have to pay for the charity walks and if you want some contact details send me a Private Message with your phone number and I will give you a call with details of the charities that publish walks - alternatively you could pick up some details via the Charity Walks thread on this Forum.

Thank you for the quick response. We find that the promise of a prize (or tat as Mr Mischief (4yr) calls it) is great when Geocaching. I think we'll try Making him his own small collecting book that way he can get his "badge."
We'll definatley look around saddle tor.
Many Thanks Sian

You did not say where you would be staying this time, so if Saddle tor is on the wrong side of the moor head for Pew tor. you can 'park around the back' Moortown/ furze cottage area 527 ish,735 ish if that helps.
One word of warning watch your toddler with the two quarries in that area although you should approach them from the bottom starting in this area.
you also have a leat to navigate. there where some stepping stones at 52932,73688 to help you get across.
