Does any body know who I should contact to complain to the army about the trash that I found up on Nat Tor today whilst letterboxing. It was disgusting, I thought they are supposed to cause as little impact to the moor as possible. There were two big areas where the turf had been cut back, I assume for a fire, some of it had been replaced but really haphazardly, there was an abandoned black 5 gallon water container, a group of tent pegs and strings, loads of trash. How do I know it was the army, there were two of their ready meals in the silver pouches, unopened and partially covered by some dead grass at the side of a rock.
Thanks
Al

I forgot to say that there were also quite a few bannedword box size cardboard boxes printed on the outside that the contents were 12 rounds of ammunition.

Try this link, it would be a good idea in the furture to take a photo and a gps of the site and sent it to them, the army have a public relations officer to deal with this sort of problem.

The link Brinnie gave will get you through to the correct person, as I have had the need to contact the range officer in the past.
But you are right to complain about this and it is one of the rare lapses by the army - the majority will clear up after themselves, or soon clear up after a major exercise.
What I cant understand is that they are supposed to "not leave a trace"

If you look at the notices section of the forum there is a post at the top of the list regarding the firing ranges and I have endeavoured to keep it upto date for the past 2 years!!!!
And btw - no offence taken... yet

For the record - there is NO Live firing during the month of August though you might hear the odd bang or see the odd flash it is all blanks

Not sure that the firing times have too much to do with it given that training takes place at areas such as Cramber Tor and Gutter Tor as well. A couple of years ago I was met by a group of lads - with guns - near Raddick Hill (Burrator area). They were trying to get to Norsworthy car park. Simple - just follow the path :) Guns weren't the problem, I was actually more concerned that they said they were lost! (They had maps and compasses, and it was a fine day. Obviously navigation had gone wrong somewhere.)

Areas such as you mention are what they call DRY TRAINING AREAS another words they train in the area, if they fire their guns. it is with blanks.
Many years ago I lived near Cadover Bridge, that area is also a dry training area, we often used to hear them have pretend wars on Lynch Common/Ringmore Down and see flares going up at night.
