Hi All

This is a message/request for the Moderators, although any input welcome. When talking to Brinnie this afternoon, we were wondering, with so many newbies coming on and asking the same questions about how to start letterboxing, would it be possible for the Moderators to put a sticky at the top of the Letterboxing part of the forum with a useful list of do's and dont's and good places to start, etc. This would then free up some of the threads and give the newbies an opportunity to read the rest of the threads at their leasure.

Many thanks in advance,.

Personally I have no objections to repeating myself - and I also like to think that the response is more personal and I hope friendly...
Yes we could direct them to the notices and perhaps frequently asked questions - but I have found it sort of rude whan this has happened to me on other sites and it isn't at all welcoming.

A good idea there Tina ...
However I have to agree with Nik. It is much nicer to give a personal reply to questions. And, I know, nicer still to receive one

I'm sorry Nik but how can you possibly think having a small section with useful recommendations on how to get started could be rude? It is not intended to replace personal responses, just a good place for people to start. Afterall, if you log on here for the first time, you have thousands of threads to read through. If you have a small section pulling together some of the more common questions, this will at least enable someone completely new to this fabulous hobby to get started, thus leaving them more time (and it will take hours and hours and hours) to read through the other threads that take their interest.

Just a personal thought.
