Hi Everyone,
I had a great day recently visiting Doe Tor, following a very very old list of clues I found the following box which was in tip top condition -
:D DOE TOR-MG BERT - 538.849 - Box behind large rock in cave. Anvil shaped rock 198deg. & 57p away. Copper beech tree 260deg. Near small outcrop 130deg. & 30p away. Brat Tor 11deg.

This box needs moor visitors - Oochico.

Hi Oochico,
I appreciate the reason for this post but is it wise to advertise clues on the Internet considering the number of boxes being stolen? What does everyone else think?

Hi there Oochico ... and welcome to the forum

In keeping up with the Joneses  I will have to agree that such detailed clues would be better off in the catalogues and updates. The trouble with the internet is anybody can get access. So a non-letterboxer could get this clue. And as we all know ... boxes DO go missing unfortunately. So I would not recommend putting someone else's clue on an open site (unless it is your own box, but I still wouldn't).

I suggest the posts are edited to only provide a 4 figure reference. Because I agree with the post above

If the clue is published on someones site then that is fair enough, but if it is an old clue I suggest that this box only had a 6 figure reference, and I am one for keeping ALL boxes out on the moor.
If you want to spread the word about a box then you can email/pm your findings to anyone who asks. If it then goes missing then you can suspect one of those who you gave the information to.... I know this sounds a little callous but - Boxes need protection!

Hi All,
Thanks for your advice regarding publishing clues on the internet, I will take it on board.

Agree with all that has been said, why not edit your post and take out the clue, if not all,the last bits. Just a thought

Sorry folks - but I have edited all the posts to reduce the map reference to a 6 figure reference instead of the walk to the spot with a GPS so a thief can take it

If anyone wants the full reference I have saved it for now and all you have to do is ask for it
