It's been 12 years since I last letterboxed , so you could call me a new boy, you can tell how long it's been the last meet I went to was at the prison club.
I started way back in the 80's when new boxes were still in the 000 and I stopped when they reached 20+k.
So my topic is whats changed, all my old contacts for word if mouth clues have ? so can anyone help an old boy with W O M, Details of any walks still out per tic in the PEW TOR, KINGS TOR, SOUTH HESS, basicly south west of Princetown between the 2 roads to Plymouth/Tavistock.
I'm awaiting Oct Cat and updates so any help would be appreciated

Hi Legend of the Moor,
If you are hoping to get some WOM clues, the best way is to put some out yourself and ask someone who is currently involved with WOM letterboxing to send your clues to everyone on their mailing list and ask everyone who is willing to let you have their clues to email them directly to you.
There is a great deal of mistrust amongst letterboxers as to who gets there clues these days with so many boxes going missing including whole walks at a time. What was your boxing name before you gave up?

My recent "collection" of WOM boxes came about when I found a WOM box on the Moor and sent the owner of the box an email telling them that their box was in good order when I left it and if they had any more clues available. Then when I had recieved their clues I asked them if they had any friends who might be willing to part with their clues.
Having a history of walking on the moors does help and it is even better if you have some clues to offer in exchange.

I recall writing a very polite email and mentioning that I would not be offended if those who had the clues refused to let me have a copy. I had quite a few of those - but a lot generously let me have a lot of clues - all of which I found I sent a note to let them know the condition of their boxes as they did a service for me - it was only fair to do them a service too

Hi
I started out in the mid 80's as "Phoenix Rising" which was a hand cut stamp which then went to a profesional stamp and then in the early 90's I changed to "Legend of the Moor" which was a professional cut stamp of a running footman (coach & horse days). I also carried a small "owl" stamp which often ended up on the last page.
I also carried a traveller "Figment on the Moor".
My collection of stamps exceeds 4k with many of the original stamps numbered under 200 though one I could never find was the original Belstone box ( the clue was I believe " box hidden at back of flat area below a trianglar pointed rock facing west) how many triangular rocks on Belstone ?
I see from the replies that the age old problem of stamps going walk about is still there and mistrust still abounds between the WOM crew and I don't blame them, I had stamps go missing back in the 80's when the total on the moor was only a few hundred you spend hours cutting, working and planning for nothing, the worst I had was a stamp went missing within 90 mins of putting out in the middle of south moor (Erme Pits). However enough ramblings.
If anyone is goodenough to trust me with WOM clues it will be appreciated, I certainly will not be in a position to put any out for a few months or so. please email them to me

I letter boxed in 98-99 then gave up due to work, now started again. I was Station master of the Moor, and going to take up my old name again, so I hope no one else has called them self that.
Why can people not call themselves by the proper names on here.

I go under the name Tina on Tor (don't know how to change my log in name). Used to box as a family and were originally, Tina, Roger, Mark & Paul, Found it at Last in the shape of a Cornet (because we all played in a brass band). Also have stamps made using Fulchet.
