The Northern Invaders

Hi Everyone,

Well we enjoyed darmoor so much as our main family holiday we're coming back. My eldest enjoyed letterboxing last year and wants to do it again - However My Youngest (18mnths) who is walking/running/climbing has no fear. I have read a few post suggesting areas, and some of these areas have a warning as dangerous areas for ankles...........

So this is a request for suggested areas suitable for walking toddlers/kids with a high/good volume of letterboxes.

Thanking you all in anticipation

Northern Invaders

Bonehill rocks is in grid 73, 77 (hope you can read a map)

Houndtor is in grid 74 78

If you are using a normal non OS Map

head for Haytor(On the B3387) (just follow the line of traffic up from Bovey Tracey(on the A382))

Carry on past Haytor round past Saddle tor (which may be ok for the kids as you come down and round from haytor there is a small car park on your right you can get to the back of the tor easier) across the cattle grid take the next turning on the right and then the next smaller side road on the bend on your left (for Houndtor see below)this will take you to Bonehill rocks. park in the first car park on your left.

Dont take the left turn above but continue on this road and you will come to Houndtor

I like Bonehill rocks its great especially the view from the car park side of the stream (watch the kids with the water) but have fun
