The Spring Letterbox Meet (Sunday 28th March 2010) will be held at the new Princetown Community Centre (next to the Primary School)

Nothing against Lee Moor, but is anyone else pleased that the meet is coming home?

Really pleased its coming BACK home to Princetown.

Its the heart of the moor and the greatest meets have been when outside its been snowing. After a good day at the meet or out on the moor you could go in the Plume and it would be full of letterboxers.

Excellent! Lee Moor is a real trek for us at the North East axis of the Moor and somewhere central seems fairer all round.

Living in Plympton Lee Moor is better for us, but Princetown no problem.

I am over the moon about the Meet returning to Princetown. I have had some great times at the Princetown Meet over the years. A group of us used to camp up at Princetown for the weekend, and are hoping to have a 'camping' reunion in March. Hopefull getting up to our usual antics.
I remember all the special stamps available in the village, and one time a group of us climbing up to North Hessary, late at night, to get a box put out that evening.
I hope the hall at Princetown can accommodate us all and has a bar so that the socialising aspect of letterboxing can return to the Meet. I do feel the 'commercial' aspect of the Meet has taken up space for socialising.
I understand that there is no food facilities in the community centre and that a mobile catering van will be on site. I think there are enough places in Princetown to get a good meal. Rather than use a van.
Just a query though. Are letterboxers welcome in the Plume? I heard rumour that we were not appreciated there. Pity the Devils Elbow is closed. What memories there.
I did tend to feel confined at Lee Moor, and that the Meet had lost its appeal to me, even though I still went. I would always come away saying "it's not the same...."
At Princetown there used to be friendly 'wind up' stamps and little tricks being played on people. The whole atmosphere was better.
Anyone remember DIMLAMPS, DEALS, The Wally Club, North Dartmoor Passports, South Dartmoor Visa's and other funny groups formed to add a lighter side to letterboxing.
However, we must not forget our time at Lee Moor and the hospitality we received from the people of Lee Moor and surrounding area. Supplying hot food and drink, a bar and a new place for the Meet after having to leave the DPOSC. I believe it was a real struggle to find a suitable venue after Princetown. Thank you to the people of Lee Moor. Great pasties!!
Well done to those who have got the Meet back to Princetown.
Roll on March. Yippee!!!!!!!

Noddy, I echo your sentiments - millions of thanks to Lee Moor who suffered us for the past few years but I too, am so glad that the venue is returning "home" to Princetown, and yes I do remember the antics of the premeet night in the campsite - at least it is an excuse to get drunk again instead of having to limit myself to a single beer and soft drinks for the night so I could drive home.
One must not forget the other "tricks" like renting out the sites for positioning of boxes. And the Dartmoor highway... right through the middle of the Moor!
Hopefully it will encourage a few more boxes to be sited around Princetown again.
I somehow dont think the Plume would want to welcome us back again as, and I use this term loosely, we ruined the pool table in the Devils which had only been installed that week by getting ink all over it....

Happy Days are here again... ROLL ON MARCH

Yes I was gutted at missing the meet this time around I felt like a bear with a sore head all day....
