Trust in thy compass...

Have had a brilliant couple of days boxing, the first since the autumn, in some 'new' areas for me, namely around Sourton Tors (and Meldon Reservoir) and also Row Tor.

Anyway, I was looking for a box on Row Tor. I had used my GPS as I do to get to the area in question and then switched to the compass to check the bearings. Well the bearings were way out, so I dutifully wandered in ever decreasing circles checking all the bearings as I went until I got to a point some distance away. Well I couldn't work it out. All the bearings were bang on but no tell tale hidey holes or 'strange' out of place rocks. I scratched my head and looked at my feet. The box was in a small hole directly beneath me, between my feet which were no more than a foot apart. I daresay you could have heard my laughter in Okehampton!
The moral of the tale: trust in thy compass...

There is definitely a moral to this story.... somewhere

Years ago there used to be a lot of stamps sited from the range poles a fellow boxer used to struggle to find them as he always used back bearings from the poles to the boxes it took him months to realise that the steel poles were affecting his bearings
