Hi Everybody,

My boyfriend going to turn 30th in two weeks time and I'm looking to organize something really unusual.

I found this through TimeOut website and I must say that I love the idea to look for a box like a treasure hunt. But I'm really lost, I don't know where to begin. What is the stamp? Did I need to make one? Where to find the map? ect...

I'm really a novice so it's would so appreciated if someone explain me point by point what to do.

Thank you so much. :D

You will get all the necessary information from the 'sticky' at the top of this Leterboxing Index under 'Beginning Letterboxing'
One of the easiest ways to get a sheet of clues is to buy one of the Charity walks for a couple of pounds. You will find these listed under 'Charity Walks' about half way down the first page. Good Luck.

Good luck with your surprise Marianne. As SS says, everything you need to know is in the sticky plus the charity section.

All the best.

As his birthday is in 2 weeks time, why don't you go along to the "plymouth get together" Summer Walk.

On 25th July, Doe tor, Arms Tor, Brat Tor area. Park at High down car park (kind of behind Dartmoor Inn - small track beside it). All are welcome, £1 for non members to get the clue sheet. Clue sheet given out between 10 - 10.45am.

I'm hoping to get the family out on this one as it's my birthday on the 27th!!! depends on the weather though as I'll have our 8mth baby girl in toe!

I'm sure there will be plenty of people happy to give you a helping hand.

The PGT walks are normally very good though finding the boxes can be quite easy as so many are out on the walk but it is a lot of fun as well.
Sadly I can't make it this year unless my boss sends me down that way which is unlikely

For a Treasure hunt - the best thing to use IMO is your imagination... let it go wild and use everything at your disposal but sadly time seems to be against you.
Some years back I set up a treasure hunt for another club I used to belong to... expensive ... a bit cos you have to do the course several times once, to scout it. twice, to set it up three, times to check it, and perhaps a fourth, to sweep it (pick up anyone who is lost) and finally clear all traces of Treasure hunt (usually done during sweep)

You could, as an alternative , buy a 'set' of ready made 'birthday' stamps - from Tesco, Endsleigh Garden center, craft shop or otherwise and pre place on the moor yourself or by someone else. Then let the 'party members' and the birthday boy find them. Each box could be the clue / link to a birthday present!

Finally, having arranged in advance - the birthday celebration at one of Dartmoors well known pubs - near to the walk area!

For me Princetown sets the scene.
