Scarey Tor

Hi,

Was just looking at the map and was wondering about going up to grid 603 924. Just west of the east okement and Scarey Tor. It seems quite well populated with boxes in a very small area. There appear to be a number of paths or small roads that lead that way, broadly SE from okehampton camp, are these the roads that are now closed to the public?

its only important because the closer i can get with the car means the quicker i can find a box to keep the kids interested!

Hi, you can still drive your car up the road past the camp, past Row Tor and park at the top of the path that goes down to Culliver Steps. You will see the parking area at 600 920 on your map. You will find loads of boxes on Belstone, but do be careful now that the bracken is up that the children don't slip between the hidden rocks. Also be aware that snakes have been spotted on the lower slopes as well. They just love the bracken!!! Take a stick for pking under the rocks.

Thanks thats really helpful. I have Belstone in my sights over the next few weeks aswell. I have the boxes plotted on my PC so had already figured it was a good day up at belstone. May leave the kids behind for that one though.
