FUNNY SUNDAY

Well so much for the forecast, showers they said. So we headed to Belstowe Village to find we hoped about 39 box's from the new book, plus the 12 from the Belstowe Charity Walk, great we will be over 400 with that lot.
Started walking in reasonable sunshine with the odd cloud, but part way through stamping the first box it showered rather heavily, but soon stopped. We carried on box 2, 3 ,4 ,5 ( now very overcast AND NO SIGN OF THE SUN) then 6 and 7 together as the heavens opened, the ink started running on the stamps and the post cards were dripping wet. So down we came ( the picture of our dog Millie) trying to curl up in a rock shelter was comical even as we got more and more wet, back at the car we changed our dripping clothes for spares we always carry. Then back along the A30 in driving rain towards Teignmouth and home. As we passed Exeter the sun came out, got home to see it was rather dry and the next door neighbour mowing the lawn said there had been no sign of rain all day!!
Well thats letterboxing, still a way to go for 400, but perhaps another day.

Dartmoor being in its own climate perhaps ?

Misty when I left Somerset this morning (the type that promises sunshine when it lifts ) :D and we also spent the day up above Harford with plenty of breeze and dark foreboding clouds threatening from the North - luckily it stayed dry ! Ironically it was soaking by the time I returned to Somerset this evening.

Spent last w/e at Taw Marsh (further down the path from Belstone) and almost has sunstroke 8)

Firstly - Hi everyone!! :D go gently on me as I am a relative newbie to letterboxing (well I found a few as a Scout years ago).

Harford Moor was very busy today and thankfully the weather held out, fingers crossed that it holds out for tomorrow too so I can finish the St Luke's Charity walk (I completely lost track of time and forgot about Mothers Day visits). Was lovely to meet you Chris and ?Grampian Plodders.

Welcome to the Forum Ady - you will find plenty of help here - any questions just ask - plenty of friendly letterboxers to help you out. I had a short walk over Feather/Pew/Heckwood tors doing the Walk on the Wild side charity walk. Lovely dry day, windy but warm. Did notice the heavy black clouds over Great Mis though and thought somebody up North is going to get very wet!!!!!

Yep- plenty of rain over the north moor today. V glad we went out yesterday, spent part of this evening carving a new stamp.. so boxes 2 & 3 should get sited in the next 7 days. Today has been experiments in carving on erasers.

Well what a lovely day it was this Sunday and we completed what the rain stopped last week, in fact I think we got a little sunburnt
The only blot on the horizon was that we were carrying for the first time our brand new traveller, saw lots of people at a distance but mainly in groups ,some rather large groups and all clearly walking and not letterboxing, so our lovely new stamp remains uninked, hopefully tomorrow near two bridges, any of you see a strange looking couple with a Jack Russell, ask them if they have a traveller.
