Just got back

WOW - We have just got back form our fisrt letterboxing weekend! Got 37 stamps!!!!!

We did Brat tor, Doe Tor and Widgery cross on day 1 and Rowtor/ West mill tor day 2

I did stop off at a few hotels/ pubs on the way round. (Got very scared at the Higwayman

Very stiff now! But Tim is dead keen to come back. We did try to find some from the book but then decided that we are not great with a compass so went to the age old method if dive under every rock we see! I was upset to find so many stamps without books or even names especially the shop bought no relevance to the moor.

Hopefully next trip we can hit 50! heres hoping

Glad you enjoyed your first real boxing experience with the disappointment of unrelated stamps.... sounds like you you have gotten the purist bug Good for you.

However, I would suggest you find out how to use your compass as boxing near to roads won't last long and learn to navigate from a map, go to your local Scout troop or ask an experienced letterboxer, everyone has to learn at some stage and there shouldn't be any stigma in not knowing how to read a compass.
I know a lot of people rely upon a GPS these days but batteries cannot be relied upon which is its real weakness.

I did a walk at Christmas in the snow - It was AMAZING. We stay at the manor in Fowley Cross about 3 times a year and I do a lot of the guided walks, and therefore got bitten by the letterboxing bug.

I have also taken an online test for compass reading - I am getting there (slowly)

I will try to get to the meet in October - it sounds like fun.
