What is going on?

Tamerton Chocolates

Had a few hours to spare this evening so I took the chocolates for a wander around the Trowlesworthy's. I didn't bring any clues but I do usually keep an eye open :) The grand total for this evening:

- A double pillpot, both with the lids missing, no contents
- A crushed pillpot, no contents
- A pillpot with lid, no damage, discarded, no contents
- A clip&lock WOM letterbox sited last year, logbook present, stamp missing
- An brand new XL ammocan with yellow tape and big letters BNRC (?) and some message from a sergeant asking to leave it alone .. I found it vandalised and discarded.
- One letterbox with logbook and stamp sited about 12 yrs ago - fairly obvious hide ..
- Quite a lot of rubbish (beercans, plastic wrappers ... which I wasn't expecting here)

Not a very good tally I must say ..

Quite a lot of rubbish (beercans, plastic wrappers ... which I wasn't expecting here)

I think that sums it up - far too many louts (for want of a better word) are creating this mess and a lot of them are non caring killjoys and will trash the boxes along with the DLT who are out to do as much damage to the letterboxing hobby.
There are those who say letterboxes are litter - technically they are correct. But if a box is well maintained then the DNPA will turn a blind eye, sadly, if too many boxes are unmaintained the DNPA will insist the area should be cleared.

Letterboxers are requested not to use ammo cans anymore as some young person was injured by the contents of one a few years back. I would assume that this box was put out by the services as some sort of orienteering training exercise.

I hope you managed to bring in the offending items - at least as many as you could for proper disposal

I always take a plastic bag with me not just for my rubbish but for litter louts who insist on throwing their crap on the moor... Makes me angry that people like letterboxers should be labelled litter louts while people who couldn't care less about the moor are welcomed as tourists... Carrier bag full of rubbish collected last Friday is testimony to this
