Hi Everyone,

I am surprised that many still do no know that there is an excellent letterboxing software program out there from Colin http://www.colin-masters.net/dartmoor/l ... index.html

It can also load Mike Holidays updates ... it is now so easy to plan routes, filter, update and everything you want to ... especially great using an Oregon 450 and the Geocache Function of it using this function for Letterboxes instedad of Geocache. With this you can have all your clues, routes etc.. on the Garmin ... no more printing out of paper ...

Maybe not the right place to ask, but where does one get a "places.sbf" database from? I understand that once you have one you can add places to it .. but I can't seem to start a new one from scratch.

:? the places.sdf file is a file in Mike Holidays letterboxing program. This program costs around £40 (not sure of todays price) and if you pay for the monthly catalogue updates, you can be sent that in a file to upload it to the program as well.

Colins Program has been updated multiple times now and it is excellent with many new features:

Walk Planer using Google Maps and Street View, drawing routes from one box to the next, finding carparks nearby, automatic routedrawing, exporting boxes into many export formats (Excel, GPX, Babel, ...) also many import formats. Filtering for 4, 6, 8 and 10 digit grids, Satalite View.
This program is perfect for Garmin Oregon and makes letterboxing a paperless letterboxing possibility, using the Geocaching function of the Garmin Oregon (you just read the clue description on the device, I do not use paper prints anymore). And best, it is free!!!
