As this was being lead by Dr Bob Bruce, we joined the chattering throng for a non-letterboxing walk - doubly unusual for us.
There were certainly quite a few others

Whilst peering at a leat cutting across Beckamoor Brook , we spotted this

yes - its a patch of that dreaded garden invader - bamboo!


a willing sacrifice to experimental archaeology

how many times have we been here & not seen this before

or the benchmark on this

shortly after this, they stopped for elevenses - we hadn't started moving until after 10. Mindful of a tree we had to fell before nightfall, we said our cheerios & left them to it. Very interesting to take a closer & different look at features
They're walking the Quarryman's path on Sat 4th Feb if anyone's interested.
