Water Hill/ Chagford Common

Taking full advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday, my friend Lauren and I parked up near the Warren House Inn and explored the area behind the old pub.

The terrain is very hard going, with very few rocks to explore and so letterboxing sites were rare to come by. Our first find was a geo cach container, which contained 3 soggy rubbers! (cannot understand the attraction if I'm honest)

Two hours had passed and still no letterboxes untill we hit Metherll Brook and found six boxes by the river. We then switched over Chagford Common to follow the North Walla Brook back to the car. Again another hour passed with no reward, along the river we found another 2. Both old and not in the book. Box numbers would be appreciated for "Tulipmania" and Crossings Guide-North Walla Brook.

Hot, and shattered we made the climb back to the Warren House Inn. Luckily we walked up a gully and found 2 letterboxes in a tree of all places! Never have I found a box in a tree in my life.

The ice cold Peroni was a welcome find and the Warren House Inn Letterbox took us to a hard fought 11 for the day. Not a walk I would recomend to the faint hearted.

Its a barren area for boxes, but they DO last there!

'Tulipmania' is Registered Box No.25840 - sited in 1998, I think!
