It's a shortish route about an hour covering 1 1/4 miles but you do need to climb up to beacon rocks - Phew it feels like mount Everest in this heat!!

Happy Hunting!!!

I am off to Afghanistan. Helmand province. I don't think I will be doing much letter boxing out there. Though I might place one. I could start an extreme letterboxing club.

Thank you Bunny Mummy. The dogs and I fought our way through the fern to find the boxes. Box number three is very well hidden. It took us ages to find the 5 foot rock as it was surrounded by lots of 5 foot rocks. Dogs found the box in the end though.

Great little walk. Great stamps.

I went to Wales whilst in the Navy - seems they own a place near
Tal-y-bont an old railway track where the ground was hard as rock (guess where we had to pitch our tents. :( :(

It either rained or snowed.... and I remember waking in the middle of the night to this noise that can only be described as a close-by-distant-roaring sound, this noise kept me awake for about an hour with me trying to figure out what was causing it :?: :?: Eventually my curiosity got the better of me and I peeped out of the tent - it was the sound of snow hitting the roof of the tent.

One day we had a twenty mile mile hike/orieteering exercise wher eon of our team managed to sprain a knee quite badly (with our packs weighing upwards of 40 lbs) we had to carry this guy for about 5 miles and his equipment - ok we decided to take a few short cuts to get him to help - for which we were commended :) then he was carted of to the hopsital where his leg was put into plaster for a few weeks... he made a full recovery, the down side was that the car taking the guy to hospital had all the hot soup on board - leaving us with the tea - I HATE TEA especially when stewed

We were there for a week in total and the night before we left we had to have a shower, the water temperature was about 1 - 2 degrees celcius - never in my life have I had a shower so cold! Some of the guys thought they would be clever and warm some water up on the range and put it in the sink - sounds like a good idea until the sinks exploded    !!!!!!!!!

The trip to the pub that night was brilliant the local beer Felin foel (I think) was terrific, I dont remember the journey back to Portsmouth after that as I slept most of the way and enjoyed the the hottest bath on my return!
