Back to the moors after the winter

Hey Guys

Haven't been up to the moors for a long time (family insist on going only when its nice weather and warm enough to camp) so am wondering where people might suggest as a good place to kick off a new letterboxing year...preferably with a fair few boxes to keep my younger cousins entertained.

Saddle Tor and Haytor are always good bets too (and there is the ice cream van and toilets nearby!)

I agree with Wires, The Plume of Feathers is worth a go, I camped there a few years ago and it was good for access to many areas worth letterboxing.
I walked past the camp site last Wednesday on my way to Nun's Cross Farm, there were a few tents there, plus they also have a great play area for the kids! Here is their web site http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/plume.html

yeah we stay there for the night of the pre meet, it allways nice and tidy and clean oh and as dizzy said, its a decent boozer!

Parking in a Pub does allow for that additional security of not having your car broken into and the plume does offer a good base to strike out as far as Ducks Pool (Via Caters Beam). And then there is the hot meal at the end of it if you dont want to cook

Cheers will bear the plume in mind. I'm sure i have been in the pub before but never actually camped there....first time we camped there we wanted to go to higher longford because of all the stamps listed in the catalogue, and since then we've always gone tavistock way.

Being near a pub does sound good, though at 18 i don't think i'll be needing the kids playground.

Hopefully get a few steps closer to the 500 badge soon!

Another vote for the Plume, although it can be a bit noisy if you have big youth or university groups in. Good food and beer too.

nothing wrong with an eveing playing with students though - they do believe pretty much anything!
