This notice was in the Update this month. He's a great guy and been an absolute trouper regarding the Letterboxing Club. Good luck Godfrey.

END OF AN ERA. Godfrey Swinscow, founder of the “100 Club” has decided to retire! but will continue to try and maintain the “Club Collection” of stamps by relying on members providing him with copies. The Club started in 1979 when there were only 100 boxes on Dartmoor, and there are now almost 14.000 members. Godfrey would like to thank all those who have helped him over the years. Special thanks to Stephanie and Roger Paul who have kindly agreed to take over from him on the 1st July 2007. They will be responsible for enrolling new members and supplying 100 – 5000 badges and membership cards. Details and Rules of the Club remain the same as in the Catalogue of Dartmoor Letterboxes published by Tony Moore, except for the change of name and address to send your details for application of membership, which should now go to:- Stephanie and Roger Paul, Lower Burrows, Shilstone Lane, Throwleigh, Okehampton. EX20 2HX. Tel. No. – 01647 231080. Please make any cheques payable for badges to S.Paul.

Thanks for the info Tina, it's sad to see Godfrey taking a back seat, he deserves as much praise and thanks that we all can muster.

I've made your post into a sticky so it stays at the top of the forum for a while. I will probably keep it up there for a couple of months.

I would have read this yesterday, but for the constant crashing of my computer, I was amazed that Godfrey had actually managed to keep going for as long as he has.

I agree it is the end of an Era, perhaps not one a few die hard letterboxers would agree with, And I wish Godfrey a long happy retirement.

I also wish Stephanie and roger Paul all the best for the future and success.

Somehow, I think things will not be the same.... it's like a part of the establishment has begun to crumble. Will we notice the change?

Anyway - good luck to all concerned

I would like to thank Godfrey for all his hard work over the years

Can I still send Godfrey my 1000 list before the end of the month, as it is sat ready to go.

How much are the badges and the p&p is it still £2.50 each

I'm not sure. It might be better to wait until after 1st July and send off to Stephanie and Roger. There's nothing stopping you from writing to Godfrey though.

The 1000 badges are still £2.50, yes.

Just recieved our 1000 badge from Godfrey not seen one that close before
what a cracking badge.

Thanked Godfrey for all his hard work over the years in the letter we sent, I usually get an anecdote off him about letterboxing, like I did this time, made me stop and think when I read this one though.

Just got my 2000th letterbox so I will be sending off for a cloth badge soon. I will wait until Stephanie and Roger take over though to avoid confusion.
So the badges are still £2.50. Any idea on the P+P for them?

If you send a self addressed envelope with normal 1st class postage, this should be fine, as the badges are not too thick. However, if you want to be extra cautious, stick a large letter 1st class stamp on.

Thanks Tina, I will use large letter stamp just to be on the safe side.

Thanks

Big thanks to Godfrey and all he has done, are we putting a stamp out for him?

i'm 70 away from 3000, is there a badge for that? (not for 2930)

Cheers
Stu
