I'm still new to letterboxing but have noticed that in some boxes I have found people have placed a sticker in the stamp books instead of their own stamp and I want to know if this is frowned upon in the letterboxing world or is it acceptable? It seems an easier option that I would like to use but if it is the no no thing to do then I will refrain from doing so.
Thanks.

I found a box that had peel off stamps for you to put in your book. It was a terrible mess. Stamps do not like moisture.
As the original letter box used cards, I dont think it really matters what you use. Its finding the box that counts.
Personally I carve mine, I like the grain effect you get with a hand carved block of wood.

Call me old fashioned or whatever - but I am of the old school - stamps for me everytime! Printed stickers look nice - but they will peel given time

Definately stamps! I don't know what it is really, maybe they seem a little more personal than a sticker plonked on the page.

I much prefer to find a stamp.
However, i'm not really that bothered if it's hand carved or bought. It's always nice to find a hand carved one, they are, after all, original but if someone has made the effort to spend a bit of time on the moor, hiding a shop bought stamp then thats good enough for me!

I much prefer a stamp, although a friend who has a small child who is just starting letterboxing says that stickers are easier for a child to deal with so they will have some printed for him until he gets a bit older.

I think anything which encourages young children up onto theMoor is a good thing.

did see some christian bits of paper in boxes over the weekend with a nice message on them, very nice but thought whats the point as they will get wet quicker than a book.
