Lost Box - Yar Tor (Would really like it back)

I put a box up on Dartmoor last year and went to check on its progress today. Was disappointed to find it had gone. This is very sad as it contained a stamp of my tattoo that my Dad had made especially - a rose with tribal detail. The tor was picked carefully as it is one that I like and that never seems to have too many 'tourists' on it, unlike Haytor or Bonehill.

The box meant alot to me as I placed it shortly after my Grandad was diagnosed with an Inoperable Lung Tumour and it was dedicated to him.

If anyone comes across it my contact details are in it and I would very much like it back. Clearly the person that moved/took it is heartless and has no concern for the story behind the box or the feeling's of it's owner.

Hi Kayleigh, welcome to the site but so sorry this has now happened to you and you have lost a box with such sentimental value. Sadly the LBT doesn't have any feelings, sentimental or otherwise. A lot of us have lost boxes and as you know a lot of thought, time, effort and money goes into placing a box on the moors, for other letterboxing fans to find. It now appears that Yar tor has been the LBT's latest area to clear. Such a shame for you, lets just hope we can catch him/her/they or even IT before anymore boxers, young or old, lose their precious boxes.

We were up on Yar tor for a quite a few hours on Saturday and we sadly we didn't come across your box kayleigh. I mentioned in a previous feed that there seemed to be quite a few boxes missing up there, and those were only ones from the catalogue, so goodness knows how many WOM ones are missing.... Fingers crossed it turns up.

I was planning on registering my box, having the clues published in the catalogue HOWEVER I have changed my mind after our visit down this summer. We have been up on Down Tor today and there was 4 missing form a certain "Family" series.... such a shame as we would've hit our 200th box had they been there. :(

Unfortunately, due to the proximity of Dartmeet, Yar Tor is often a 'challenge' for tourists. Personally, I would not site a letterbox there.
If you do manage to get your box back it may be worth considering re-siting it. Fingers crossed

I walk the dogs here a lot. I have to say that some of the boxes you mention weren't particularly well (re-) hidden. I seem to remember one was even in a large bright yellow container. You could see them from 100 meters away - even people that weren't boxing could notice them.
