Hi, I'm new to the forum - what a great site. I found it while browsing for someone to contact about a box I found on Sunday at Bonehill Rocks. We found it just left on top of a rock and when we opened it the book was totally soaked with most of the stamps unreadable :( . The stamp was still there, 'Congratulations Margaret and Terry Ruby Wedding'. Is there any way of finding out whose this is and letting them know? We tucked the box away very near to where we found it. Hope this was the right thing to do, but we weren't sure where it was originally hidden.

Hi, I've checked the catalogue for registered boxes and this one is not included within the listings. This means that it's just a word of mouth box so there's no way anyone can say who exactly it belongs to.

Sadly this happens many times, if the box is poorly sited and the container is a little flimsy they very often get broken i.e rocks being put on top of them, the weather attacks the box and makes any contact details completely unreadable. I've found many a box like this recently.

When I place my boxes on the moors I try to use a good container, inside the container will be a carrier bag containing the stamp and book, plus a carrier bag on the outside of the container. I choose a place to hide it that's fairly well sheltered from the weather.

Hope this help a little,

Paul

Thanks for checking on that - we haven't got our hundred boxes yet, so we have no catalogue to look the boxes up in. We are thinking of siting a box, so thanks for the tips on how to keep it as safe as possible from the elements!

Hi Devon Dumplings. If you do site a box make sure you let us have the clues!

Absolutely - you will all be the first to know! We really want to site some boxes, we're thinking of some ideas and where to place them. Hopefully will be able to site them by the end of the month. :D I'm also going to have a go at cutting the stamps myself. I've done a small one of a sheep. It's pretty basic but at least you can tell what it is!!

Excellent! It's great to cut your own stamp, it certainly makes it much more personal. Let us all know when you site it, I would love to find your stamp!
