Missing boxes around Belstone Tor

Hi!

We've just got back from a great day letterboxing around Belstone Tor and Scarey Tor. Found lots of stamps, some planned, and some 'bonus' ones by chance.

However, we did find a couple of empty sites where the boxes were no longer there. We are positive that we were in the correct place as the clues were very specific, and we could see the empty site for the letterbox. The boxes in question were:

Curried Letterboxers Series No. 43
Love of Elusive Butterflies No. 10

Hi James & Jenny, have you joined the letterboxing club yet? If so you can pass on these details via e-mail to Tony/Sylvia Moore, they will then in turn add them to the updates many of us buy.

If not then I can e-mail them across for you.

Glad you had a lovely day out there! :D

Dizzy, if you would be kind enough to e-mail the details to Tony & Sylvia, I'd be very grateful! :)

We haven't joined the Letterboxing Club yet, as have only just reached the 100 mark this weekend.

Many thanks!

Well done on reaching your first 100 James and Jenny. Now you can send off for your special badges and membership cards.

Welcome to the Club.

Just noticed Dizzy - only 55 boxes to go - you should get your 2000 within the next couple of weeks or so then. Good for you.

I've not updated that recently, I've only got to find another 14 stamps and I will be at the 2000 mark!!!! I look forward to sewing a 2000 badge onto my rucksack to go with all the other ones!

Thanks

Hi Everyone - I'm new on here but it seems we were following James and Jenny's route around Belstone/Scarey the other day - found their personal stamp in several boxes we visited on Halstock Hill! :D

We did however successfully find The Ellusive Butterflies 10 box. I'm still pretty rubbish with the compass :? - but I think it was where it should have been, and it was still there when I popped upto Belstone last night for a spot of boxing after work!

Hi Craft Jo! Welcome from us also!

Hope you found lots of boxes around Belstone/Scarey Tor. We found 25 on Bank Holiday Monday, some planned, and some unexpected. We ran out of time though, and knew that there were still lots of boxes out there.

Glad that you found the Ellusive Butterflies no. 10 box. Maybe it had been replaced? We were certain that it was not where it should be, but we could have been wrong!

We hope to go back to Belstone soon, and maybe use it as a starting point for a trip to Cranmere Pool.

All the best

J&J

Hi everyone, thanks for your welcomes. :D

Been boxing for approximately two months, it was my New Years Resolution to make the most of my one day off a week. Tried various things but none as addictive as Letterboxing. It now takes up almost all of my spare time! :P

So far haven't ventured too far off the beaten track, all my boxes have been found around Row, Belstone, Scarey and Winter Tors along with Halstock Hill. Hope to go to Brat Tor on Sunday for a change of scenery!

Hi there Crafty Jo, nice to see a new face in here, everyone who crotributes are most welcome :)
Hope you can gain all the information you need from this site - if not - ask!
someone on here is sure to have an answer for you!Look forward to your posts in the future.
I dont often come here to post - well not in this section - cos I feel I am posting far too much so I try to keep it to a minimum in this section.
If you haven't already had a look around there are some useful tips and hint - plenty of good links.

Thanks Nik, There certainly is lots of useful information on the site. Especially for a new comer like me! :D Have followed up most of the links - you could say I am over-loaded with useful information now!! :P Hope to post some replies in the future - but my knowledge and experience of Dartmoor is quite limited at the moment. Though with every excursion - and there have been plenty lately - I am getting more familiar with certain areas and the general 'Letterboxing Thing'. :P
