Tony Moore

Afternoon all. I'm back after another long and mysterious silence. A house move and a car crash account for my uselessness this time around. And if any one asks, Jasper (dog - see the Gallery) was driving...

Having been out of the loop for a long time and thus missed out on all letterboxing chatter and news, I was just wondering how Tony Moore was these days? I have stayed in his and Sylvia's holiday cottage a few times, but was a bit shy about contacting them direct and asking outright. The last time I was a regular poster on here, Tony was extremely poorly, and I was wondering if anyone had any news?

Thanks, and love to all.

What happened to your Avatar?

As for Tony Moore I have heard nothing in the past 5 months - so I am assuming no news is good news.

Thanks for the updates guys, I'm really glad to hear that Tony's still with us.

Nik - I can't quite recall exactly what happened with my Avatar (which you kindly helped with, I think  ) - I think that, like me, it became corrupted. So I put an actual picture of me instead, because that was the best solution at the time. When I am all sorted (house move, car crash, still getting settled after all that) I'll have a go at getting Baby Roo back up there!!

Hope all is well with you?

Indeed Tony is still getting about, albeit slowly

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been about much on the forums lately. Regarding Tony, I received the following email from Sylvia at the end of October (2009). My apologies for not posting it at the time - I thought I had.

"Hi Ruth,

A friend told us they had seen your enquiry about Tony on a forum.

In August they told us there was nothing more they could do for him,

and stopped treatment and gave him a few months left.

As an ex nurse I queried the result of the CT scans, and they now say

it is a valued point and will re-start Chemo next week, keeping a

close eye on him.

It may not have any effect, and the prognosis will still stand, but

at least we go down fighting.

Tony looks well from the outside, but is in quite a bit of pain from

his back and 'tummy' where the skin graft is.

He still tries to get to 'roadie' boxes, and folks collect for him,

so he keeps in touch.

Please feel free to let people know, I'll only send a bulk email when

things are going downhill faster.

Love to you and Jasper.

Sylvia."

Thank God for Sylvia - she must be such a comfort and support to Tony.

Why is it that cancer only seems to strike the good ones, eh?

Love to all,

Glad to see you are still around though the news about Tony isn't great but it isn't all bad which can only be seen as a good sign.

I keep my fingers crossed for him and Sylvia, who must be living a life of hell at the moment. My thoughts are for both of them at this time.

But thanks for the update

Hiya Nik - how's things?

I wish I had better news to post about Tony - he's one of life's good 'uns. But, with Sylvia on hand, and friends around him and supporting them both, he is clearly putting up a tremendous battle and, should things ultimately turn out for the worst, will have gone down fighting. There will be no "if only we had tried xyz..." My mum has had cancer twice and survived, and I have friends who also had it and didn't make it. And, with one friend in particular, it was comforting to know that - even though she passed away - EVERYTHING possible had been done for her and she had fought hard. It's better to try to defeat whatever horror is facing you, rather than lie in a corner whimpering. Then, even if you are ultimately defeated, at least you have the certain knowledge that you did your best.

So many people around the country love and appreciate Tony and Sylvia - I hope that can offer them some small comfort.

Keep smiling Nik; great to know you're still about in the letterboxing world. xxx

I am really sad to hear about Tony, I can remember having a cup of Coffe at his house back in 1999 and we had a great chat.

It is really sad to hear about Tony, and I hope that those around him have the strength to support his every needs.

I am sure that if he is aware of the comments on this forum , he will be aware that he has a whole lot of followers that are concerned for his wellbeing, and all support those around him.

It goes without saying that All wish him and his family all the very best.

Hi Adrian - I didn't get to meet you, but know your mum very well. It was a lovely send off for your dad. Very relaxed atmosphere and lovely to see Sylvia smiling throughout. I loved the reading - Thankyou for being my dad' and the beautiful song sung with just the piano playing. The sun shone for you all which also brightened the day. Loved the line from the Canon - go 12000metres on a bearing to the Avon Inn on your right for refreshments after the committal. Your dad would have been very proud of you all.

R.I.P. Tony
