Hi,

I haven't been out in ages as my fella plans the walks and he's away. I'm planning on a walk with some secondary students from my school to plant stamps they have designed and made, but due to 'Health and Safety' :? we can only walk on public footpaths.

Can anyone suggest some areas where there are some decent walks and places to hide our boxes on footpaths? If it was a round trip it would be best but if not we can go a certain distance and come back again.

Thanks for your help guys!

Forgot to mention that we are coming from Plymouth way (near Derriford) so not more than a 30/40 min drive from there.

Thanks again!!

Can only walk on footpaths due to health and safety what ever next. There is one from Ivybidge along to Redlake, that takes you really into the middle of the south moor. Another nice path is fom Gutter Tor to Plymford or Nuns cross which is a good walk with some nice views.

There are a lot, I could go on forever.

Just tell them that the whole of Dartmoor is one big footpath. Also I find that sometimes open moor is safer than slippery footpaths.

Good luck

Another good one is to park at Norsworthy bridge (N end of Burrator Reservoir) and walk up the track to Crazywell Cross, across the leat and up to Cramber Tor along to Cramber trig then back down to Older Bridge. You can then take the track back passing Newlycombe Cross and back down to your starting point. A nice circular route with some fantastic Antiquities to view along the way.

A favourite walk is around Burrator Res. as recently put out as a charity walk.

There are also the East and West Darts, Cowsic all with decent paths.

Postbridge to Belever Tor has some good view,s and ancient stone rows etc to view.

The old favourite - Pew Tor has a good walk path.

Why not follow the railway line from Princetown to Swell Tor , Kings Tor and back!
