So, having decided to take up letter boxing after my husband has had a life long love affair with Dartmoor, i am now in the throws of preparation.......

Notebook - Check

Stamp Design - Check

Stamp Design Submitted - Check

Catalogue of Clues - Check

OS Map of Dartmoor - Check

Bags of Excitment - Check

Info on Charity Walks - Check (Thanks Oxman!)

Anybody have any hints or tips on things i've missed out? As we help to run 3 ten tors teams each year we have all of the necessary walking equipment required.

Think our first weekend will prob be in 2 weeks time, hoping to have the stamp made and with us by that point. If its not what will we use? our signature? I think if we did use our signature i would definately feel the need to go back once we had the stamp!

There are loads of threads on here about getting started but if you want any more guidance I'm sure everyone will be happy to help - including myself.

But it seems you are doing ok for now

I know there are loads of threads on here to be read and believe me I have read them, but how will I communicate &/or introduce myself to my fellow letterboxers if I do not at least make some posts on here!

Hmmm... not used a map compass or clues in years now... the only essential things I carry are a GPS set to where I have parked the car and turned off for most of the day, the letterbox kit and a walking pole

anyone who soley relies on a GPS on the moor are very silly. ALWAYS CARRY A COMPASS WHICH DOES NOT RELY ON BATTERIES.
