So Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall has broken her leg whilst hillwalking.
Its not as safe a hobby as it seems...
I have been fortunate enough to avoid seriously hurting myself on the Moors, though I was walking with a friend near Kit Rocks once, who broke his ankle jumping the East Dart.
Any other ambulance cases out there?

I know of a few rescue cases a couple involving the air ambulance... but the worst I have ever had was a sprained ankle but was able to limp off the moor
My worst injury which prevented me walking more than 50 yards was tendonitus of the achilles tendon 18 months of misery for me

Way back in 2000 I had an accident that changed my life completely. It was not dramatic, it was not something to be the highlight of conversation but it did put me out of the letterboxing 'circle' for the best part of 8 years!
It was a simple error of judgement on a misty, slippery slope, whilst boxing.
By the time I was rescued by the Devon Air Ambulance I was in hypothermia but I well remember the 'trip' in the helicopter!
Do not ever take the Moor for granted - it is a wild and desolate place to be enjoyed - but also respected!
