Hi folks,
I havent letterboxed in a few years. I thought this site looked interesting, so I registered.
I live in Princetown and enjoy walking dartmoor, I dont have a great fascination with letterboxing but enjoy a navigational challenge.

Hi Walk-Dartmoor welcome to the site...
Well what can I say - not really interested in letterboxing - interesting... but then there is so much to see on Dartmoor that most people dont see even if it is right in front of them.... Stuffed with so much history etc...
But then like yourself I do like walking around the moors even if I don't find any boxes and that the moor gives me so much energy
I know I will for one look forward to your input on the forum so once again - Welcome :)

I know that bit about 'not really interested' seems daft on here. In reality I suppose I do have some interest, I wanted to attend the last clock change meet, however I was drawn away to a training event in Okehampton that weekend.
My son finds letter boxes fun, I ought to do more with him really.
Oh that reminds me, I havent been out to Vur Tor (Fur) since last summer; the letterbox (looked like an ash can box) was missing, was it being repaired?

My husband is like you and loves Dartmoor unconditionally. We took up letterboxing as a point of interest for me during our walks on Dartmoor.
We walked up to Yes tor on Sunday and i was absolutely blown away by the breathtaking beauty of Dartmoor. I can see why it holds such attraction.
Having only been on Ten Tors training before, its always been somewhat drab when i've been which didn't hold much appeal, although its clear to see, if you catch it on a good day, the beauty is astounding. It certainly changed my perception.

It is definitely one of the best ways of learning about the moor - it's history and where everything is IMHO

Interesting point about the 'drab' thing Lucie. I did the 55 TT twice as a young airman for RAF Locking. You know I cant remember a damn thing about it; where we went, what we saw, who was in the team etc etc.
But whether the sun shines, or the rain is heavy, the moor has a charm of her own.
