Hi all,

Last year i read about Wobbly Bootie in this forum, and how he sadly passed away. Many of you wrote such moving tributes and i loved the story of the cow!

I also read a post from a relative who had various books and catalogues for sale... i presumed they would've been snapped up as quite a lot of people were interested..... i gave it no more thought.

Last week however i was the lucky winner, on a well known auction site, to win 45 back dated letterboxing catalogues. I was stunned to find i was the only bidder. Though i know that they're no use these days, i thought that someone would've liked to have collected them as part of the history of letterboxing.

They arrived yesterday well wrapped up, followed by an email explaining why the seller had so many copies when he wasn't even a letterboxer himself.....

They had belonged to his uncle who was a keen letterboxer called Wobbly Bootie!

So thought i would leave a post on the forum letting you know how thrilled i am to now own the books. They are full of markings etc and to know that they were once owned & used by someone SO loved is just wonderful.

Thats brilliant Emma lucky you - I bought a dozen of his books and am still ploughing through them. There are little remarks in some of them from Mike which makes them all the more special. Really glad someone who is a letterboxer has got hold of them and will look after them.

I am so glad that another piece of Dartmoors history has now gone to good hands to be looked after.

I managed to get one of his books and something more special than that a possession I am extremely proud to have... his entire stamp collection!

One day I will get around to counting them

OMG Nik how lucky are you!!!! :o

I have sent an email off to Mikes nephew, saying thanks for wrapping them up well, to tell him a bit about me and the other Nesty Crew members and to ask what happened to his stamp collection!!!

So now i know!

How many stamps did he have?

The books are just lovely, i keep staring at them...and i truly feel v.blessed to own them and even more so now i know about their previous owner.

At the moment I can only say - Thousands!

Might get to list them in a database if I can be bothered to do it or more likely have the time
