So it was the first day of the summer holidays for local schools and we decided to celebrate with a lie in and a long walk . That is, a long walk for a 4 yr old. We ventured away from our home patch and parked at Bellever with the intent of walking to Bellever Tor and Laughter Tor and picking up some boxes along the way.
Didn't find the 1st box we had clues for but did find Letterboxing essentials First Aid kit, one of a series I guess, well hidden. Then up to Bellever Tor and a bit of a Hunt found us BogDog ( nice stamp) and Stephs dragon 1, (Thank you steph) also two un named boxes and my boots started to let in water. Then we started out towards Laughter Tor and the rain REALLY started. As all were properly dressed we carried on regardless. From this point on we saw no other walkers.
Found rather nice new box on Laughter Tor, "the Thinkers" put out earlier in July with an attractive stamp. I think we were FTF apart from the children of the box owners. Failed to Find a box guarded by pixies but did find a kiddy box. The Bilberries / Whortleberries were in fine fruit on Laughter Tor, just wish it hadn't been so rainy or I'd have harvested a box full.
So 4.5 hours out and another 7 stamps in the book. Lots of wet socks and boot and waterproofs drying around the house.

Sounds like you had a great first day of the holidays. What a pity about the rain.
Took 2 newbies out boxing today. A friend of my small son and their mother. We had a fab explore of Scorhill down.
Found - 1 Tor,1 stone circle, 2 clapper bridges, 1 stone with a hole and 4 letterboxes. The other mother was VERY excited when she found her first box ( I knew where it was but made sure she found it) , and her second.
Another day out for the EDSZ family. Went up to Belstone with a dozen or so boxes in mind to find. Found some of them and plenty more besides. Lunch was somewhat delayed as we kept on finding MORE boxes on our way up to a prominent rock ( near which were 2 we wanted to find) . Our total haul for the day was 16. a new PB for us.
AND we met some other boxers. novel for us, don't laugh. Exchanged personal stamps and the first lot got to be first in the book for our temporary box. Can't think of the right name for one of these, can any one help. Its a box that we
put out on our way out for a walk and pick up again on our way home.
