Who ate too much and wants to get back on the moors?

Well it is Boxing day I am sat here sulking because I cannot afford to come down to Dartmoor but this thought came to me...

Who ate too much and due to the inclement weather can't get to the moors either?

:( Console yourself Nik with the view that no-one is getting up onto the moors unless by Shank's Pony. The roads past Asburton to Holne are still very iced up and we are constantly still being advised not to try it even in 4wd. Main road from Tavistock to Princetown passable with just one track. The moors are still covered in several inches of frozen snow, so even if you did manage to try it you wouldn't be able to find a box or even get it out of its frozen hole. At least all the boxes will be safe until the thaw comes along.

Darn it :(

Was hoping to get up Chagford Common on Wednesday for a little leg stretch.

I’ve been watching the webcam at Postbridge, just hope the rain clears some of the snow

As for the 4wd I’ve got a shovel & a bag of rocksalt :D :D

I managed to get to Chagford Common today without much trouble, the main roads are clear & the lanes are slush thanks to the rain.

Had a good day apart from the mist :x , good job I took the GPS cos you couldn’t get a bearing of anything.

Tried to get the People Of The Manor series but only got No13 don’t know how old they are but if No13 is anything to go by it was a good set to have, they all might be still there it could have been my poor searching skills

We did it. Got out onto the moor that is. A quick well wrapped up expedition from Sourton , found 3 boxes ( 1 each) and a pair of glasses. VERY windy on the moor, we didn't go all the way up to Sourton Tor as Mr clever eyes was struggling to keep his feet on the ground.

North Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Walk number 9 seems to be missing in action. The glasses had been left behind in its place , at 54323 90022.

I'd love to see the moors in the snow - it's only really practical for me to go down there in the summer though when it's warmer and more pleasant! But yes, I did eat too much anyway. As always :)

As the glasses were left at a walk box, it might be worth telling Angela and getting her to post a note on the next update. If you wear glasses you will only be too aware of how much they cost.

Looked like only cheap reading glasses type, but yes, will e-mail A.

Others half found them and assumed they were mine, quite how he thought I would be able to look for a box WITHOUT my glasses I do not know.. Bizarrely tho I found myself putting a hand up to check I did still have mine on. It was foggy.. .
