well thats the meet over for another year, will add a photo later, loads of familiar faces seen over the day, with some great friends (exeter boghoppers and flo) but the best part of today was seeing a 2 1/2 year old stamping her own boxes.

Nice to see you all David - I was very impressed with Caitlins stamping especially as she is only 2.1/2 years old

think you might of left either the first time or second time lol, but was quite impressive, as for caitlyn think she managed to get over 200 boxes at the meet and a couple of the same stamps she liked she went back for seconds..

Just out of curiosity - why are there so many stamps to be had at a meet? To me it seems they are just that .. stamps .. and nothing to do with letterboxing. Not that there is anything wrong with collecting stamps - I am sure there were some fine examples.
It rather puts the 100 requirement in perspective if a 2 year old manages to qualify twice over in a morning.

it stamps that are all registered that have been brought in off the moors, some are travelers and personal stamps, and some people even have stamps made for the day of the meet. as for children getting what they can, seems a good idea keeping them interested and out of the house and maybe keeping up with letterboxing when they are older and not letting in just vanish like so many past british hobbies and past times.

I see - in no way did I want to belittle the kids collecting stamps though - I just didn't quite understand why there were so many.
Does anyone have a list of the charity walks that usually gets posted here?

Thanks to everyone for the meet - it was our 1st and with 2 days boxing before and the meet stamps we got to 200!!!!
Tim is now badgering that we bought all of the charity walks and they come in in March so "Mum when can we go do these walks" is a popular saying right now.
I have worked out that if we merge the Bray/Brat and Doe tor walks together there are still 4 differnt areas to hit before March - Oh dear!
I have started my book - The Saving that was on sale - I am also going to hunt out the Dini when we go - it also explains the things that I think ?I may have lost on the moor :D
A great day and I am really looking forward to the next one!!!
Thanks again

You will enjoy The Saving - what a marvellous read it was - then of course you willhave to go and buy the sequel Myrddins War to find out what happens to the Dini. The author lives round the corner from me and is a friend of my neighbour. So got to meet him when she held a coffee morning. Great to have a book with a story that you can picture where they are and what its all about. Enjoy!!

That is quite easy to answer, it keeps kids from being bored.... kids between the ages of 2 to 102
