Links on peoples accounts - Do not click them

I have been doing some digging and I worked out where I got my anoying hack from....- this site!

The other day I had one of my nervous twitches and the mouse just happened to be hovering over one of the links when it happened.

So the moral of the story is don't click anything you are not sure about....

The upside to this is for me to delete some of the older suspicious unused accounts, so over the coming days my intention is to reduce the number of accounts that have a big fat zero next to their post numbers - all accounts that have no activity since the beginning of this year will be weeded out, to reduce the unlikely event of more malicious attacks

This will take time as it is boring

I'll leave this post as a sticky for a while so you can all get a chance to see it

This should have been done ages ago before reaching the false total of over 800 "members".

I agree entirely, but, as I don't own the site I am proceeding with caution... but recently things are starting to get out of hand

The inherent problem seems to be that Tomp (the Group Moderator) has disassociated himself from this site and his Group Members are now reduced to yourself and Sowerby Streaker. The pair of you have been left ‘holding the baby’ but are only able to act as foster parents.

You currently have no support from the other listed Group Members, namely Boo Boxers, Cranmere, Crafty Jo and Dizzy.

If yours and Sowerby’s work load for this Forum has become excessive then surly it’s about time that the pair of you had some different and active Group Members on this site.

There is not one hell of a lot to deal with and there is enough work for one person to do, it is only recently that the site has been bombarded with a ton of spam - most of it coming from the US. Deleting a dozen or so spurious new members each day isn't difficult.

As for other Moderators on this site - I dont believe in over moderation. I deem that is the fastest way of destroying a forum by turning it into a cliqué, that is not the way I want it to go, the idea is to be open and friendly.

In the case of Sowerby Streaker, whom I don't believe I have physically met. But as they are online a lot, I took a leap of faith and asked if they would consider being an administrator, to cover me if anything happened.

I don't know where Tomp is at this time but as it stands I have been putting 2 and 2 together and hoping it does make 5.

The other thing I have done as of today, posts in the Social Room should no longer be read by those who are not members, thinking of a bit of privacy for the members.

Oh yes you have - Dizzy introduced me to you a year or so ago at the meet. I'm a lone Streaker now as children have grown up and are not interested anymore.

For the coming months, when it quietens down on here, I doubt there will be any need for any moderators, so no offence peeps, your status has been removed, as and when any are required I might put up a request for a moderator.

I/we might even let you lot decide upon who takes up the challenge... I'll put it to the vote in January perhaps...

:)
