OK. So its not going to be as dramatic as the Okehampton military Ring road closure. However, news that Western Power Distribution are planning to remove the obvious 'YP' telegraph poles between Princetown and Peek Hill!?!

I think you mean Telephone Poles. Telegraph Poles have not been in use for a looooooooong time. :D :D :D

I can remember the first clue I read using them thinking, 'What the hell is a YP?'. I felt stupid once I realised.
But I will be glad to see the back of such ugly eyesores

If the source of the information is Western Power Distribution then the poles are neither telephone or telegraph poles. They will be low voltage electricity distribution poles.
I think "Telegraph Pole" is being used here in the colloquial sense.
