I was up on Ger Tor, Nat Tor, Tavy Cleave area over the weekend.
Looks like the LBT has been very active in this area as some of you know judging by some of the notes left in the places the boxes had been. HOWEVER boxes that I had found by chance in the past where UNDISTURBED!
SO LBT your using the book, and.............. you not very good without it are you???? Ha Ha your CRAP! What a JOKE you are?

That's interesting Reg, it sounds like the LBT isn't interested in clearing an area of boxes then, more about just spoiling people's fun :( It's such a totally poinless thing to do.
It's sad for everyone who wants to share their clues and boxes with everyone else and for the people who put the book together just for so many of the boxes in it to be taken. For the waste of the time and effort that people put in, and that people become very reluctant to share their clues with anyone let alone put them in a book.
With the LBT so reliant on the clue book perhaps there needs to be a fake book of clues put out, they'll soon get bored then :D

Don't think the LBT is reliant on the Catalogue - I went out last week up to Crow tor and several boxes missing including my WOM which has been out there for about 8 years! Thats 3 now stolen in the past 3 months. One has gone now from White tor along with many other boxes.
If only we could catch him/her!!! Such a shame as I have several more boxes to go out, but beginning to think whats the point :(

Quite right B.B. and S.S.
I can't imagine what it might be like to be such a LOW LIFE?
Surly anyone who stoops so low as to steel from charities is below contempt?
I am going out over the bank holiday to do one of the charity walks I bought at the spring meet. I bought all the walks at the Autumn and Spring meets and I have never done one. Not because I am lazy but I just think it is important to show support to the people putting the boxes out, and to hand over the money.
SO LBT if you have been there I think I will put out a walk of my own!
UP YOUR!

If we stop putting boxes out then the LBT may well have achieved his/her objective and surely that cannot be allowed to happen.
It appears that 'missing boxes' have occurred for many years and sadly shows no sign of stopping. My own view, for what it is worth, is that if you wish to put boxes out and continue letterboxing, you just have to accept that it occurs and have to be as careful as you can when siting boxes and releasing clues.
Hopefully one day the LBT will be caught which will restore confidence to place clues in the catalogue and give all genuine letterboxers a great deal of satisfaction.

I rather suspect the LBT to be more than one person. Either several individuals or a small group, and will include not just the book-reader but extend to farmers and walkers who view letterboxes as litter - perhaps the same way some people view cairns as artificial rubbish and seek to disperse them.
If that's right it does seem to come down to selfish arrogance though - "My view is right and I don't care that I'm upsetting others" and it extends beyond "It's in my sight and offends me" as they're seeking and destroying what isn't in sight.

What is so sad about the DLT(s) is that we have probably met them!
They go to the meet and buy the catalogue, they buy the clues to the charity walks. I am convinced it is someone who actually has a grudge against the 100 club.
There can be the odd area where the local farmers can get irate about people tramping around during lambing season and to discourage other by clearing all the boxes, for example, around Yellowmead Farm a few years ago.
There are the spiteful types who are opportunist kleptomaniacs. And then there are the accidental types who put a box in their bag absentmindedly and completely forget where they found it.

Anyway we did the charity walk, pleased to report that there was only one box missing. I was surprised at the amount of other boxers who took the time to talk to us so thank you for that (you know who you are?)

On a similar vain when walking near Lake Viaduct on two separate occasions I have found letterboxes "out in the open" Neither was anywhere near cover. Maybe sheep, wind / weather or wildlife????????? :?
