No apologies for putting this subject on the Forum.

I am absolutely amazed at the achievements of all the atheletes. Who could expect a gold winner of a backstroke swimmer with no arms - and archery contestant that holds the bow with his feet and releases the arrow by his mouth! Full Tennis by wheelchair- Dave Philipson - terrific! Yet another medal - bronze - for Elle - terrific!

Who cannot be inspired by these!

Hats off to them. But what I do not wat to see is a raft of other honours coming out in the new years honours list for someone who has earned a medal, perhaps if they have successfully defended it then maybe.

Like civil servants they are doing their chosen job, does a farmer get any recognition for putting food on our plates, having to work 365 days a year, of course not.

Anyway that is what this bit of the forum is about... posting (within reason) about anything you like

For me, these have been the best ever since they have been held in the UK, post the Olympics and have been supported and applauded more now than ever before. Who can dispute the honour and admiration that deservedly should be bestowed on such poeple.

These are not the grossely , obscenly paid 'primadonnas' of the football world - but ordinary folk earning a (?) livable wage.

To any critics - all I have to say is - just what is it you have done for your Country! (to be so bold as to comment!)

Perhaps it is better to give a knighthood to a failed MP demoted from his last position for incompetence and then reinstate him in a pensionable mind blowing compensation job!!! (read the news!)

I served my country, 29 days short of 10 years, had one of my best mates killed in The Falklands conflict, although I was never shot at ( then) but does that count?
